Process.
One. Contact Me.
If you are a new client wishing to book an initial session, please contact me via phone call, email or SMS prior to booking a session.
Two. Brief Phone conversation.
Together let’s organise a time to have a brief conversation. Please know that you are not obligated to work with me.
Three. A suitable session time.
You can book a session time directly with me. Sessions can be virtual, or over the phone.
Four. Mental Health Care Plan (optional).
If you are eligible for a mental health care plan (MHCP), you can organise this with your GP prior to our first session.
However, you do not need a MHCP to see me.
Fees & Cancellation Policy.
Fees.
The fee for a standard consultation is $250 per 50-minute session, which is below the recommended Australian Psychological Society (APS) guidelines. To view the APS Recommended Schedule of Fees, please click here.
Fees for report writing may vary depending on the complexity and requirements of the report.
Cancellation Policy.
In line with APS guidelines, 48 hours’ notice is required for cancellation or rescheduling of appointments. This allows clients on the waiting list to be offered your session.
Less than 48 hours’ notice: 100% of the session fee will be charged.
Cancellation fees are not eligible for Medicare or health insurance rebates.
Future appointments will not be scheduled until any outstanding fees are paid.
Cancellation fees may be waived in exceptional circumstances. Please discuss this at the time of cancelling or rescheduling.
Seeing a Psychologist & Medicare Rebates.
You do not need a GP referral or a diagnosis to see me.
Medicare rebates are available through a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), completed by a GP or Psychiatrist. This provides access to up to 10 sessions per year (up to 40 for eating disorders).
To organise a MHCP:
Book a GP appointment for a Mental Health Care Plan.
Email the referral letter to brooke@nektarpsychology.com.au.
Your GP may review progress after the 6th session and provide a referral for 4 additional sessions if required.
Clients claim rebates directly with Medicare using the receipts I provide.
Private Health Insurance Rebates.
Most private health funds provide rebates for psychology consultations, and a referral is not required. If your policy includes ancillary (extras) cover, you may be eligible for a rebate. Please contact your insurer to confirm whether psychology sessions are covered, any waiting periods, and the rebate amount you can expect.
You can only claim through either Medicare or your private health fund, not both, for the same session. Clients claim rebates directly with their health fund using the receipts I provide.
Private Payment. A GP referral is not required if you wish to pay privately.
Payment.
Payment. Fees are payable by bank transfer prior to your appointment. You will receive a receipt to claim your rebate via email.
