Victorian Bushfires Community Project
This not-for-profit community project was born from a deep care for the families affected by the Victorian Bushfires in 2020.
Several healthcare practitioners generously donated their time to make this initiative possible. We provided a safe, supportive environment for families: children had a secure place to play and receive health support, while adults accessed trauma informed care to help mitigate the effects of post-trauma stress for both themselves and their children.
The project was driven entirely by the kindness of the community. Everything was donated, from essential oil kits and art supplies, to the drama centre converted into a safe space, jumping castles, delivery trucks, tents, and even people’s homes for our team to rest during downtime.
Given the duration of the bushfires, key community stakeholders were educated about the operational setup of the kids safe space, allowing the project to be shared with other healthcare practitioners within the community so they could continue to provide safe, supportive spaces for children and families.
To the families who trusted us during such a challenging time, thank you. We hope we were able to bring a little sparkle to your lives and provide support during this difficult period.
Online Seminar for Sex Workers Australia Wide
This seminar was developed and delivered in response to a reported rise in challenges among sex workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. It aimed to provide psychoeducation and evidence-based tools specifically addressing the issues experienced by individuals in sex work, whose jobs had been affected and whose wellbeing had been impacted.
The seminar explored topics including inner child work, trauma informed therapy, working with ethical healthcare practitioners, the neurobiology of trauma, parts of self, shadow work, trauma bonding, societal and parental conditioning, addiction and eating disorders, sexual abuse and fragmentation, regulating the nervous system, bullying and the underlying mechanisms at play, the drama triangle, empowerment, and boundaries.
It was designed to equip participants with practical strategies to support emotional regulation, resilience, and personal empowerment in the context of the challenges they faced during this period.
Online Seminar for the Jewish Community
This seminar was created and delivered during a period of significant challenge for the Jewish community. It was designed to support individuals experiencing distress and reactivation of trauma responses, providing a space for understanding and healing. The seminar focused on intergenerational trauma, recognising triggers, and learning how to hold space for oneself during times of collective pain and uncertainty.
It explored key principles of trauma psychology and self-care, offering evidence-based tools and grounding practices to help participants regulate their nervous systems and build emotional resilience. Attendees were guided through compassionate ways to cope, reconnect with their inner strength, and find moments of safety amidst external turmoil.
I thank the Jewish community from the depths of my heart for allowing me to hold this space and facilitate this seminar during a time when trust had been deeply fractured.
